Louise, The Adventure Of A Chicken BOOK REVIEW

Louise, The Adventures of a Chicken, by Kate DiCamillo and Harry Bliss, is a real inspiration. Louise is a chicken but she is also a brave, intelligent problem solver.

Louise lives in a barn yard but she longs for adventure. She is involved in three exciting and dangerous adventures. Louise battles pirates, is almost swallowed by a lion and escapes imprisonment in a far-away country. Louise remains hopeful and optimistic in these dire circumstances. She comes up with an action plan and she returns to the safety of her farm home.

The illustrations is this book are fantastic. The facial expressions provide additional excitement and drama to the story. The pictures are large and colorful.

Each time Louise finds herself in a dangerous situation, she remembers her happy home back on the farm. These memories make her determined to overcome many difficult circumstances so that she can return home. Louise never gives up hope. She learns that home sweet home is truly where her heart is.

When Louise comes home for the final time, she shares her adventures with the other chickens in the chicken house. Perhaps she will inspire the other chickens to live their dreams.
